šŸŒ¤ļø Daily Recap: Quiet Moves, Smart Trims, and a New Block

Today’s action was a little lackluster overall, but trimming still took place, just as planned—and even with a surprise.

āœ‚ļø Surprise Trim: Realty Income (O)

Realty Income doesn’t usually make big moves—that’s exactly why I own it. It sits in my low-risk block thanks to its steady 5.65% yield, its monthly dividend, and its long, reliable track record in real estate. I’ve never wanted to be a landlord, but I do believe in owning what humans can’t live without.

Today, O popped above my trim threshold, and like a bobber with a fish on, I pulled a few profits off the top. Later it settled down, as did SLV, which I was also trimming aggressively in the morning. My timing was solid—an algorithmic selloff may have yanked it down later, but I was already taking gains.

I’d rather trim early and lose upside than hold too long and watch paper profits evaporate. Trimming let me start a new block. That’s always a win.

šŸŒ UAE Block Begins

Proceeds from today’s trims let me open a high-risk position in the UAE ETF, which closed the day up 1.02%—that’s $3.92 gained, more than I’d earn in my checking account. I admit I don’t fully understand the UAE market yet, so I treat it as high-risk. That’s not fear—it’s prudence.

🧪 MP Materials Momentum

MP was up 6.31% today, and my second and third entries into the allocation are green. I may have bought into a dip early, but the story isn’t finished. Rare-earth minerals are heating up, and the U.S. government holds a stake.

āœ‚ļø Other Trims and Timing

  • ITA got trimmed; it rose after, but not enough for another cut.
  • FETH and FBTC both rose after I trimmed them slightly—a sign my timing was good, selling near intraday highs.

I’m pleased with how those trims played out.

šŸ‘• Building the DXLG Block

I added more shares of Destination XL Group (DXLG) today—not for a story, but for sentiment. My son works there, and they haven’t offered him stock, so I’m building a little on his behalf.

  • Current allocation: $855
  • Status: Very-high-risk
  • Position change: Up 5.73% or $46.40

Sometimes personal conviction makes for the most meaningful blocks.

🧱 Closing Thought: Trimming = Freedom

These dollar amounts may look small, but that’s the point. I imagine the same moves with more zeros—and I know the discipline is what scales, not the size.

Each trim lays a new cornerstone. Each new block strengthens the foundation.

Wherever there’s growth, I’ll trim.
Wherever there’s pain, I’ll wait.
And if a position dies off quietly, I’ll kiss it goodbye and learn.

I’ve ring-fenced my risk from day one, and that’s what lets me sleep well and invest even better.

No market predictions tonight. We were busy saving dogs.
